World Controversy!

Is Coffee Addictive or Beneficial?

Coffee contains the most antioxidants compared to any antioxidant food sources. Over 1,000 compounds are produced just within one single cup. One of these compounds, caffeine, is one of the most looked and controversial chemicals of today. As explained in the previous blog, caffeine is a psychoactive substance which affects the mind or central nervous system. With prolonged use of caffeine, some believe that the drinkers become completely dependant on the effects of caffeine which makes it very addictive. They also believe that it can cause certain mental and psychological issues. But in contrary, other people believe that it is very beneficial to cure and prevent diseases and such side effects can be prevented by limiting usage.

The real answer to this very controversial question is it depends.
It really depends on things like tolerance, amount of intake, type of coffee, gender, age, height, weight and etc. Caffeine affects everyone differently. According to a research tolerance to excessive caffeine intake develop among most individuals. Effecting the urinary or renal system, cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal system, and sometimes the central nervous system. But in moderate caffeine intake, there are little to no concerning health issues. But there is definitely a need for further research.

A common subtopic about this controversy is the consumption of coffee among teenagers and adolescents. As we know the teenage period is an important period for development in each individual. There have been studies that show how caffeine can affect social skills among teens. The research comes to a conclusion that although it can help with our social skills we should also be mindful of the level of intake since tolerance develops, which leads to increase of levels of intake.

In conclusion to this topic, we think that it is alright for teens to be drinking coffee as long as there are no health issues caused by it and is used in acceptable doses. Teens should also be mindful and aware of the substance's side effects and dangers. Monitoring intake is also a good idea if you are ever concerned.
